Happiness is associated with a healthier life, but with the hustle and bustle of work and daily routines, it is easy to forget to allow yourself the time to be happy.  Happiness is a choice.  It should not be dependent of others though we tend to make it so.  I often find myself struggling with associating my happiness to someone else’s mood.  Let me tell you, it sucks.

50 thing you can do to make yourself happyOne day I just decided, I was going to be happy and didn’t want anyone to ruin it for me or bring me down.  I started to write down ways that I could make myself happy without concerning myself of how others were feeling.  The Funny thing is, I noticed that as my mood changed, the mood of those surrounding me changed as well. I guess happiness is a bit contagious.

50 THINGS YOU CAN DO TO MAKE YOURSELF HAPPY

1.  Sleep in.

2. Exercise. Drink plenty of water.

3. Spend time with loved ones.

4. Go outside.

5. Practice being happy.

6. Listen to upbeat music.

7. Get dressed.

8. Eat something delicious and healthy. Check out these recipes!

9. Watch a funny movie.

10. Be grateful.

11. Plan your day, but expect it not to go as planned.  If it does go as planned you will be stoked.  If it doesn’t, you won’t feel too disappointed.

12. Give yourself extra time.  Be on time.

13. Volunteer, give back, or just do something nice for someone without expecting something in return or having an ulterior motive.

14. Meditate.

15. Read something positive.  I get positive affirmation emails from The Universe sent directly  every day in my inbox.  Check out these positive quotes & inspiration.

16. Chat with a friend.  No gossip.

17. Walk your dog, get a pet or borrow one. 🙂

18. Hold the door open for someone, and say thank you to those who do it for you.  A little respectful behavior goes a long way.

36. Lose weight or maintain a healthy weight. I use this to track my weight.

37. Watch less tv.

38. Pamper yourself.  Get a haircut, mani, pedi spend time and energy on yourself.

39. Compliment someone.

40. Start a local meetup.  Join a group. Surround yourself with positive people.

41. Don’t compare yourself to others.

42. Do something that someone else thinks is fun, you might find joy in it too!

43. Don’t judge or criticise out loud.  We all do it, those thoughts in our head that we can’t help and think, but you need to be respectful and not say things out loud that might have you feeling lousy later.

44. Play with a child, or just act like one.

45. Go to the movies.

46. Get a new hobby. Color. Start a garden.

47.  Say I love you.

48. Go dancing.

49. Get a massage.
